Welcome to my Eportfolio
This is a collection of the projects I have accomplished

I am currently a Senior Mechanical Engineering student at California State University, Northridge. Throughout the course of my education at CSUN, numerous of projects were accomplished. The purpose of this portfolio is to share the work completed and showcase the skills learned from each project. Press the button below to download my resume!

Recent Work

Modifications on Creality Ender 3 Pro

Currently, the Ender 3 Pro is my main printer. I have owned this printer for since 2020. From this printer, I have learned how to create prints from different materials such as PLA, PETG, and TPU.I have messed around with the firmware and learned how to work with Klipper. Using Klipper, I learned how to make my printer perform better and be able to print PETG at 200mm/s which is a tricky thing to do. I learned how to mess with the electrical components and solder wires such as the dual 5015 fans in the picture.

Finite Element Analysis on Differential Cage for ME386

The purpose of the project assigned in ME386 at Calstate, Northridge was to get hands on experience and to prepare for future senior design projects. The assembly in the image is a the differential cage designed by CSUN FSAE 2021-2022 drivetrain team. The goal for the differential cage was to verify using finite element analysis (FEA) if the design made by the 2021-2022 formula team was optimal. Teams were created and each member of the team was in charge of a different part of the differential cage. I was incharge of running a topology study. After performing the analysis, the topology study showed where material can be removed. The weight of the differential cage was reduced from 2.27 Lbs to 1.82 Lbs which is a percent difference of 22%. This project gave me experience and practice when using SolidWork's simulation tools.

ME330 Project: Positioning System for a Laser Doppler Vibrometer

For ME330, the professor assigned different teams to design a positioning system that would help the laser doppler vibrometer to be able to scan a specimen with a max size of 750mm x 750mm x 50mm. For the group I was in, I was chosen to be team lead and I was in charge of meeting the deadlines set by the professor. I was in charge of reporting with a biweekly report on the progress accomplished, ongoing, and planned. For team four, the group decided on making a positioning system similar to a 3D Printer. I had taken charge of the project since the project was assigned. I designed the positioning system while applying knowledge learned from ME330. The design is over-engineered; However, the cost of the position system is two percent of the cost of the camera. The laser doppler vibrometer,PSV-500-3D, is a camera that is worth about 300 thousand US dollars. The primary focus of the positioning system was to allow free range of motion while limiting chances of failure to occur. If the camera were to get damaged, it would be a loss to the school.

ASME NASA MINDS Competition

Working with fellow club members to design, prototype, and manufacture a CubeSat that can be deployed into space and follows NASA MINDS competition regulations.

About Me

Hi, my name is Brayan Gonzalez.
Soon to be graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering. (Spring 2023). Throughout my time at CSU, Northridge, I have learned a variety of skills from completing different courses. From each course, I've learned to advance my skill in CAD modeling. Currently, I am working towards finishing my last year at CSUN and working on my senior design project. As for the future, I hope to one day work as a mechanical engineer who focuses on mechanical system design. I enjoy designing CAD models and hope to work in a team who shares similar passion. In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with my Ender 3 Pro and working on it to optimize its performance. STRENGTHS: 3D Printing, Solidworks, HTML, CSS, Esprit
